Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2012!

Happy World Breastfeeding Week!  I am so excited to present the photos that Ellie Tonev, Kriss Abigail, and I have been working on these past two weeks.  I am really amazed that so many of you agreed to be photographed NIP, or nursing in public.  We are well on our way to normalize breastfeeding, one mom at a time.  Hope to see you all on Saturday!  –Marina Gallovitch

  1. While I support breastfeeding, (I breastfed my daughter), I do not like to see it done on a public street or any other public place. Many of the large stores have rooms in the ladies bathrooms for just that purpose, I think more public places should accomodate mothers who feed their infants, whether by brest or bottle. Infants do not need to be exposed to crowds of people while feeding. They need a quiet and calm atmosphere with a mother who is comfortable and calm while feeding them. Noisy, busy public places are not he place to feed an infant regardless how they are fed. Quiet is what they need to help with their digestion.

    1. Thank you for your thoughts, Mrs. Adams. We agree that some babies nurse better when they are in quiet places. However, we support women in making whatever decision is right for them as to where and when and for how long they breastfeed. If they want to breastfeed, covered or not covered, on top of a mountain, we salute them. If they want to only nurse in private places, that’s great, too. If they are uncomfortable breastfeeding a baby directly, but they pump milk for their baby, we know they are doing the best they can and we support them every step of the way. Whatever it takes to get the baby some of that awesome breastmilk! Thank you for breastfeeding your daughter – what an amazing gift you have given to her.
